Digital Repository

The USIU-Africa Digital Repository  is an open access digital collection and archive containing the research output of USIU -Africa faculty, staff graduate and postgraduate students. Included are digital theses, journal articles, conference papers, reports and more.

The repository showcases the research outputs and increases their exposure and impact by making them visible and freely available through services such as Google Scholar and CORE

What are the benefits of having copies of my work in the Digital Repository?

  • Increased access to your work – The Digital Repository is indexed by search engines. This means that your work is more discoverable.
  • Removal of ‘pay barriers’ – Making research outputs openly accessible serves the interests of many readers who would otherwise not be able to afford high access fees.
  • Increased research impact – When your work reaches a wider audience, it can lead to an increase your chances of being cited.
  • Long term archiving of your research outputs – When you deposit your work in the Digital Repository it means that you can access the publication records and any attached digital files from anywhere the world.
  • Showcasing of USIU-Africa research output – The Digital Repository provides a central place to store, manage and provide access to all of the works by the University's authors and researchers.

Getting copies of your work to the Digital Repository

USIU-Africa Researchers should submit all works to the Digital Repository

If you have copies of the author’s accepted manuscript version of any of your publications and wish to make them open access, please email them mary.ngure@usiu.ac.ke  or to library@usiu.ac.ke

Copyright and the USIU-Africa Digital Repository

The full text will only be displayed via the repository if one of the following apply:

  • The author has retained the copyright for the material and gives permission
  • The copyright agreement between the publisher and the author allows the full text to be made available (green open access)
  • Permission has been granted by the publisher on request
  • The work has a Creative Commons License
  • The work is freely available online
