Clinical Management of Bacterial &Viral Diseases: Research Starter

Clinical Management Information System – DMSNew technologies allow rapid detecting and counting of virus genomes in clinical specimens, defining susceptibility to specific antivirals, pinpointing molecular sequences correlated to virulence traits, and identifying viral and host factors driving resolution or chronicity of infections. As a result, during the past three decades the diagnostic virology laboratory has become crucial for patient care and an integral component of the multifarious armamentarium for patient management. This change in paradigm has caused obsolescence of methods once considered the reference standard of infectious disease diagnosis that were used to detect whole or specific components of virions in the specimen.
